Chapter Leadership

A Message from the Cleveland Chapter President

Greetings Members and Guests!

On behalf of the Cleveland Chapter families, I would like to thank you for visiting our website. Now we are able to share our vision through social media and look forward to actively engaging with our constituency on a regular basis. Who are we? Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2-19, dedicated to nurturing future African-American leaders. The Cleveland Chapter is one of the more than 230 Chapters nationwide, representing over 40,000 family members.

It is indeed an honor to serve as President for 2017-2019 under the Chapter theme: Families Moving Forward While Seizing the Momentum. The Cleveland Chapter has a wealth of talented mothers who stand ready to uphold the mission of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated. We operate under the idea of establishing a social and cultural union for children, just as our Founder Marion Stubbs Thomas intended in January of 1938 when she began organizing the very first meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Today, this solid foundation is built on faith, unity, transparency, and youth empowerment. The members are handing down the bountiful fruits of our labor to our children while helping others that need assistance in various communities.

Some highlights of this administration include:

  • Our members fed more than 1,000 homeless people in the city of Cleveland during the MLK Day of Service on January 15th. This effort was in partnership with R.A.K.E. (Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere) and the Hashtag Lunchbag Movement.
  • We collaborated with AARP to host Cleveland's record-breaking opening night for the Black Panther Movie Premier at Valley View Theatre. More than 1,200 FREE tickets were given away to our members, area families, and friends. The event helped make Valley View one of the top theatres in the nation that night.
  • We collected more than 450 books to donate to the Cleveland Kids' Book Bank for area students to promote literacy and the power of education.

We will continue using our voices to speak out on the important issues that impact us, be humble servants when called upon to assist others, and never forget from whence we came. It is our duty to remember that we all stand on the shoulders of giants who were here long before us because Luke 12:48 says, "To whom much is given, much is required."

We certainly look forward to being a major contributor to Jack and Jill's 80+ year history of powerful programming for children. Please feel free to email us with suggestions or feedback at: jackandjillcle@gmail.com. Again, thank you for visiting our website. We hope you enjoy the various features and take advantage of all it has to offer.

Yours In Service of Jack and Jill,

Richelle A. McCoy
